Family fun fest

Pleasant Valley Baptist Church invites everybody to its Family Fun Fest 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12. Free food and music, games and more.

Michael Zinn, a Russian Jew and a representative of Chosen People Ministries, will be speaking at Real Life Assembly, 1930 Pleasant Rd., Fort Mill, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday Sept. 12, giving a personal testimony of his search for his Messiah.

A time of refreshments will be served following the service. Zinn will also be speaking in the Sunday, 10:30 a.m. service bringing an update on the nation of Israel. These meetings are open to the public and Real Life Assembly would like to invite the Christian and Jewish community to attend. For more information, call 802-7010.

St Johns UMC on Tom Hall Street, Fort Mill is hosting a Child Seat Safety Check and Childrens Health Awareness event, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12.

There will representations by Piedmont Medical Center and the Fort Mill police and fire departments, including an ambulance, fire truck and police car. The police department will also be giving away gun locks. The community is invited and encouraged to attend.

Zoar United Methodist Church is holding a homecoming 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 13,in the Family LIfe Center. The Rev. Laurie A. Knoespel will be preaching. Music will be by The Telestials. A covered dish lunch follows worship.

Fort Mill Church of the Nazarene, 109 Harris St., will have a revival Sunday, Sept. 13, to Wednesday, Sept. 26.

The Rev. Norman Moore of California will bring the message each night. Sunday services will be 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday-Wednesday services start at 6:30 p.m. Each night there will be special singing and a nursery will be provided.

Lake Wylie Lutheran Church, at the corner of Hwy. 160 W. and Gold Hill Road, Fort Mill, will hold a kick-off celebration for its Sunday school classes in the Fellowship Room at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 13.

Enjoy cake and meet the teachers. Students will go to class from the celebration with their teachers. There will be classes for pre-schoolers all the way up to young adult.

A new seven-week newcomer's class called "Moving On After Moving In" will be held 10 to 11:30 a.m. beginning Monday, Sept. 14, at BacInTyme Coffee Cafe, 124 Confederate St., Fort Mill.

This Christ-centered study will help you in the process of letting go, starting over and moving ahead with your life after the transition of a move. Child care is not provided.

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) an international, nondenominational Christian organization that meets at First Baptist Church, 121 Monroe White St., Fort Mill, is getting ready to start its 2009-2010 meeting year.

The All Stars for Jesus program is comparable to Awana and Pioneer Programs, with extensive awards program for all participating children. Aglow, a transdenominational organization or Christian women, meets 7-9 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month in Regent Park. Aglow groups are in approximately 165 nations around the world with more than 1,400 local groups in the U.S. The heart of the organization is local fellowships. Small group studies, care (support) groups, retreats, and annual conferences make up the Aglow year. It is a network of caring women as well as a faith-building organization. Young Life of York County is at work with teens in the community, providing leaders to help them make wise decisions.

Young Life is a Christian ministry committed to making an impact on kids' lives and giving them hope for tomorrow. Founded in 1941, Young Life leaders build positive relationships with young people in order to model and communicate the truth about Jesus Christ. Young Life reaches suburban, urban and multicultural kids as well as kids with disabilities and teenage mothers.

English-as-a-Second Language classes meet at 7 p.m. every Tuesday night at Flint Hill Baptist Church in Fort Mill. Students are assessed and placed in a class based on their knowledge of English, from beginner to advanced. All classes are free and are for anyone who needs to learn to speak English.
