Have you dared to listen to the news lately?

It's frightening, isn't it?

We are certainly living in times of insecurity. Between the stock market, the war on terror, gas prices and an upcoming election, it can be more scary than a haunted house on Halloween. The Bible says in the book of Timothy that in the last days, men's hearts would fail them for fear. In the midst of it all, however, there is good news to be considered.

For those who look to God and love him there is always good news. Great news, even. I received an e-mail the other day that really lifted my spirits. Listening to the presidential candidates debate, and then hearing every commentator put their spin on it had put a spin on me, I'm afraid. I wondered, "Who can we trust? Who is really telling the truth? How can either of them keep all those promises they are making?"

Then the e-mail. Things I already knew, but every once in awhile we need to be reminded. Here is what it said, and I hope it will be an encouragement to you, as well. It was titled, "Top Ten Predictions No Matter Who Wins the Election." Here they are:

1. The Bible will still have all the answers.

2. Prayer will still work.

3. The Holy Spirit will still move.

4. God will still inhabit the praises of His people.

5. There will still be God-anointed preaching.

6. There will still be singing and praise to God.

7. God will still pour out blessings on His people.

8. There will still be room at the cross.

9. Jesus will still love you.

10. Jesus will still save the lost when they come to Him.

Isn't it great to know who is really in control? The main things are still the main things. Proverbs 21:1 says, "The king's (president's) heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turns it whithersoever he will."

God has always had the last word on who is raised up and who is put down. So whatever the outcome of the election, the market, etc. I only have to trust Him. Whether I see it or not right now, He does all things well. And He always will! Give your cares to Him and go have a good night's sleep.
