Dear Editor,
I am offended by Scott Cost's comparison of Joe Wilson to a stumbling drunk Kanye West. By the way, Scott, Wilson blurted out, "You lie!," not "Liar!"
Wilson had actually read HR3200, something Obama surely hadn't. Obama waxed on about his mythical plan, while the only real plan is HR3200. When Obama said that the plan won't cover people who are here illegally, Wilson was appalled, because he knew better. He had to yell, "You lie!," because the press won't.
The press is concerning itself with the tone of public discourse rather than analysis of what the president said to America.
There being an increase in incivility is preposterous. Where were the cries of incivility when Al Gore screamed that George Bush lied? Remember, Preston Brooks (D-S.C.) beat Charles Sumner (R-Mass.) in the U.S. Senate. That was uncivil.
