WOODRUFF --
Fort Mill High senior golfer Amanda Hall led the Lady Jackets to an 11th place finish in the state golf championship last week with a eighth place finish individually.
Hall shot a 159 (81-78) to finish 10 strokes behind individual winner Maureen Dunnagan of Lexington High School. The top 10 finish for Hall gave her All-State honors.
In the two-day, 36-hole tournament, Hall was just six shots off Dunnagan's lead after the first round. The championship was played at Three Pines Country Club in Woodruff. The 18-hole, par-72 private course provided enough difficulty for the high school golfers to make it interesting.
Hall's 81 in the first round led Fort Mill. As a team, Fort Mill shot an 807. Hall's first round score was followed by junior Sara Allen's 87, sophomore Kimberlin Schilke's 102 and junior Emily Kalshoven's 127.
Day two was a little better Fort Mill. Hall followed her 81 with an 78, while Allen posted a near consistent score of 88. Schilke's second day score was a little higher with the sophomore shooting a 111. Kalshoven didn't post a score in the second round.
Nation Ford finished the tournament in 15th place with an 834, tying Lancaster High School.
Leading the way for the Lady Falcons on the opening day was Zharne Glover's 92. Her score was followed by Emily Baron's 99 and Shannon Connolly's 106 and Nancy Holland's 107.
All of Nation Ford's scores rose on the second day. Glover shot a 98 in the second round and Baron posted a 103. Holland shot a 113 and Connolly shot a 116.
Lexington High won the state title, its sixth straight besting Dorman High School by four shots.
